A NATURE
WORTH

PRESERVING

Switzerland offers 4.8 ares (=480 square meters) of arable land/ head. This is tiny compared to the EU average, where 21.2 ares per head are availe and the US with 47.6 ares per head. As a result of this space constraints, low value meat products as well as up to 80% of protein supply for feedstock is imported into Switzerland.

The consequences can be felt from "seed to fork": Swiss farmers are left to struggle with price pressure, often relying on tax funded subsidies. Imported meat and feedstock is often at low quality and are causing deforestation and animal suffering in countries of origin with less advanced produciton standards.

AN OPPORTUNITY
WORTH

SEIZING

Switzerland has an unparralleled potential to create a sustainable and inclusive food ecosystem, by advancing clean infrastructure and agile regulation for cellular agriculture.

SWITZERLAND'S POTENTIAL

We are leaders in bioprocessing capacity, biotech innovation, are independent from EU frameworks, offer the highest quality standards and financial stability

CLEAN INFRASTRUCTURE

To lead the change, we need to add massive bioprocessing capacity fueled by waste streams and running on clean

SUSTAINABLE
FOOD SYSTEM

Our current food production systems are heavily based on animal agriculture and major contributors to GHG emissions, water and land use

AGILE
REGULATION

Similar to Singapore, Switzerland has the opportunity to outpace the EU in the race to attract innovators and investments by front-running regulatory frameworks

INCLUSIVE
FOOD SYSTEM

Novel solutions need to address the needs of farmers and local Swiss communities as well as introducing lasting and economically viable change

CELLULAR
AGRICULTURE

We will grow protein rich Algae and Mycelium in fermentors, culture yeasts and brew protein, fats and milk in bioreactors, all “made in Switzerland”

IMAGINE
SWITZERLAND

2030

By 2030, Switzerland has the potential to produce 15% of it’s consumed protein from cellular agriculture (mycelium-, yeast-, algae- based products and cultured meat).

We strive to unlock this potential toward a sustainable and inclusive food ecosystem, by advancing clean infrastructure and agile regulation in Switzerland.

CCA is a not-for-profit organisation.

CCA ambassadors believe in the potential of Cellular Agriculture in Switzerland. We make our voice heard for the planet, for innovations and for the animals through our personal engagement and networks.

We represent a cross-section of the Swiss ecosystem, ranging from Startup founders, Farmers, Meat and Meat alternatives producers, Researchers as well as representants of established CPG and the financial industry.

We IMAGINE SWITZERLAND 2030 and inform consumers, regulators, food and pharmaceutical industries, retailers, investors and governments to take action both on cantonal and national level
